Respect Life Sunday
US Conference of Catholic Bishops - 2006-2007 Respect Life Program
Today is Respect Life Sunday, which kicks off Respect Life Month in the Catholic Church. Its purpose is to increase respect for and protection of life from the moment of conception to natural death. Documents and material for the month are linked above.
Of note for Catholic Democrats who base their voting Democrat on the argument that Democrats take better care of those who have been born, the Respect Life flyer reads:
No amount of good social policy, such as programs that feed the hungry and shelter the homeless – as vitally important as they are – can make up for bad policies concerning the protection of life itself. Without the fundamental right to live, the right to not be killed, no other rights are meaningful. In fact, without life no other rights can exist.
Bad on life issues is bad, period.
