Words to watch for

There are some words that just set me off and let me know that the person speaking is not worth my attention:

  • Multi-cultural
  • Diverse
  • Holistic
  • Hueristic
  • Best Practices
  • Action Items
  • Fellowship (especially when used as a verb)
  • Dynamic (outside computer code)
  • "Do you have the bandwidth to take this on?" (Why not just ask if I have the time?)
  • Any non-mocking reference to a mission statement

These drive me crazy.

Comments

Me too. I think they take away from the dignity of the human person by making him or her, part of some group or another and lead to the very alientaion and objectification they claim to resolve.

I've got a few to add: new paradigm; thinking outside the box; visioning; griefwork.

I'll add the following:

"liase" (creating a verb from liason)
"partner" as a verb
mispronouncing the word data

too many to list
